Kiddie Up Nannies is dedicating to help every parent with all their childcare needs. Perhaps you need a full-time nanny, or you’re looking for a sitter occasionally; maybe even your best friend’s cousin is going to watch your little one for a few hours. Regardless of your needs, Kiddie Up is here to help! Two of our most popular services are the Find-A-Nanny Toolkit and our placement services. Both unique, beneficial and educational, but based on what you need, one might be more helpful than the other.
Q: I’m wondering how to start the process…. whether or not I purchase the Find-A-Nanny Toolkit or use your placement service to find a nanny. How do I make that determination and what’s the difference between using the toolkit and paying the full placement fee, other than heavier lifting on my part for the toolkit route? Please help! Thank you 🙂
A: The Find-A-Nanny toolkit is a wonderful option for the do-it-yourself type of parents. We provide you with all the tools you’ll need to place a nanny on your own. The Toolkit includes how to get started (job description, where to find nannies, etc.), questions to ask a nanny and reference, our Gold Belt Buckle includes a background check, contract template and much, much more! It is important to know a lot of time goes into placing a nanny on your own. Many of our families come to us because they truly don’t have the time it takes to dedicate to the process (understandably so- little people tend to take up a good amount of our time!).
Our placement service is everything I mentioned above only we do it all for you! There is a significant difference in price, the placement service is a higher fee, but that is because we are putting in all the time it takes so you don’t have to! The placement service has no hidden costs or fees; everything is included (all the background checks, customized contract, etc.).
Some families might decide to place a nanny on their own as opposed of placing one through us for financial reasons or they’re flexible on experience level. We require Kiddie Up nannies to have at least 3 years of experience, CPR and First Aide certified and willing to go through our intensive screening process. For that reason, our nannies are professional, experienced career nannies and their rates reflect it. Average hourly rates our nannies charge is between $15-$20 per hour. There are definitely wonderful nannies out there that don’t meet our requirements that would charge a lessor rate. At the end of the day, it’s your preference and what you’re most comfortable with.
Lastly, I want to mention an example I use often to describe the two options. When I need to change the oil in my car I think to myself, “Do I have the time to do this? or even the tools?” Sure, I can YouTube it and figure out how to change the oil. I’ll buy the tools, get a little dirty and dedicate the time it takes. Or, no way, I don’t want to get dirty, I have better things I could be doing with my time and truthfully, I’ll let the professionals handle it! Neither option is wrong, it’s just what works best for you at this time.
